What does GOTS mean?

The Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) is the world's leading certification for ecologically and socially responsibly produced textiles. It checks the entire supply chain, from field to finished garment. For baby skin that means: no pesticide residues, no harmful finishing chemicals.

Why organic cotton for babies?

Baby skin is five times more permeable than adult skin. Whatever lies against it can trigger irritation, especially with atopic or very sensitive skin. Organic cotton is untreated, free from chemical residues, more breathable and kinder to the skin than conventional cotton.

Materials and origin

Our essentials are made from 100 per cent certified organic cotton. Production takes place in certified workshops in Europe. We deliberately favour short supply routes and fair wages.

Care and washing instructions

Wash before first wear. At 30 to 40 °C with a gentle, fragrance-free detergent, ideally suitable for babies and people with allergies. Do not use fabric softener: organic cotton is naturally soft and stays so without chemical additives.

Frequently asked questions about baby care

What exactly does the GOTS label mean?

GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) certifies textiles made from at least 95 per cent certified organic natural fibres. It checks ecological criteria (no harmful chemicals) and social criteria (fair working conditions) along the entire supply chain.

Why should baby clothing be organic cotton?

Conventional cotton is sprayed with pesticides and finished with chemicals during processing. Residues can promote irritation and allergies, particularly on delicate baby skin. Organic cotton avoids both.

What temperature should I wash at?

30 to 40 °C with a fragrance-free, mild detergent. Do not use fabric softener. This way the organic cotton stays soft and skin-friendly for a long time.

Does the clothing shrink in the wash?

Organic cotton may shrink minimally on the first wash (1 to 2 per cent). We have allowed for this in our sizing. Air-dry the clothing where possible, rather than tumble-drying.

What sizes are available?

Our essentials start at size 50/56 (newborn) and progress in small steps up to 98. The exact sizing is given on each product.

Are the dyes safe for newborns?

Yes, we use exclusively GOTS-certified dyes without heavy metals, azo dyes or other skin-irritating substances. Safe from birth.
