Fragrance-free baby care. Why less is often more
Fragrances, alcohol, essential oils, calendula, chamomile. There are ingredients that have no place in baby care. Here you find out why vujo Frischling consistently leaves them out and which substances can really harm sensitive baby skin.
Discover fragrance-free baby careSome substances simply have no place in baby care
Fragrances, certain alcohols, essential oils, allergenic plant extracts such as calendula or chamomile. These substances act differently on sensitive baby skin than on adult skin. They harm the immature skin barrier, are among the most common allergy triggers and can disrupt the already sensitive parent-child bond.
That is why vujo Frischling is formulated with radical restraint. What is not safely proven does not go in. What the skin does not strictly need is left out. That is the core idea behind “less is more” in baby care.
Fragrances disrupt the parent-child bond and can trigger allergies
For you as a mother or father, your baby's scent is unmistakable. This unique scent has accompanied your child since the moment of birth and triggers feelings of happiness and bonding straight away. Nature has set it up that way. Studies from TU Dresden show that infant body scents are chemo-signals in the mother-child relationship. Fragrance covers up that natural scent.
On top of that, fragrances are among the most common triggers of contact allergies. The EU obliges manufacturers to declare 26 particularly relevant fragrance allergens individually on the packaging. With a still immature skin barrier, these substances penetrate the tissue more easily. If you want to be on the safe side, choose baby care without fragrance, without aroma and without essential oils. That is exactly vujo Frischling.
You can recognise fragrances on the INCI list by the entries “Parfum” or “Fragrance”, or by the names of the 26 individual allergens.
Alcohol dries the skin out and damages the skin barrier
When alcohol in care products is mentioned, it usually means ethanol. It is used as a preservative or as a solvent for essential oils and plant extracts, for example calendula or chamomile. On sensitive baby skin, ethanol draws out moisture, weakens the acid mantle and makes the skin barrier more permeable to irritants.
vujo Frischling does not use ethanol. To ensure microbial safety we use mild preservatives that occur naturally and are also approved for food. The result: care that protects rather than burdens.
